Huawei Y9a unveiled as the toned down version of Enjoy 20 Pro 5G

Earlier this month Huwaei had unveiled Enjoy 20 series in China, debut as Enjoy 20 5G and Enjoy 20 Pro 5G. This duo probably reserved for the country China, for the global market Huawei silently announced a tweaked version of the Enjoy 20 Pro 5G. The phone was already leaked, revealed its key specifications and a teaser poster in Iraq. The phone debuted as Huawei Y9a, the design aspect was inspired by the recently launched Enjoy 20 Pro.

Features wise the phone is a toned-down version of the Enjoy 20 Pro. The Enjoy 20 Pro comes with 5G equipped Dimensity 720 SoC whereas the Huawei Y9a has the MediaTek Helio G80 SoC. The difference is huge, it is about a generation gap, as a 4G phone it packs decent features and specifications. However, the price and global availability remain under the warp.

Upfront, the phone is built around an FHD+ resolution TFT IPS LCD display of size 6.63″ with notch-less design. Besides, the screen has a 20:9 aspect viewing experience alongside 92% screen-to-body ratio. In the camera department, the phone has a pop-up motorized mechanism camera module that contains a 16MP camera sensor. Around the back, there we have a circular-shaped camera module that has a quad-camera sensor and an LED flash just beside the camera module. The sensors are a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide sensor (120° coverage), a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro sensor.

Under the hood, there we have an octa-core system from MediaTek Helio G80. That configured in 2XCoretex-A75 at 2.0GHz & 6XCortex-A55 at 1.8GHz CPU cores fabricated in the 12nm process. Further, it bundled with Mali G52 MC2 GPU beside LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.1 storage type support. While the external storage expansion support is available through an NM SD card up to 256GB. The system on the phone is running on EMUI 10.1 built on the Android 10. Whereas the system draws power through a 4300mAh battery that has 40W fast charging mechanism built with Huawei SuperCharge technology.

As far as the connectivity is concerned, the phone has dual 4G LTE support alongside the Wi-Fi 5. Other connectivity includes a USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5.1, fingerprint scanner (side-mounted) and other necessary sensors including Gyroscope, compass etc.

Price and availability

The phone will be available globally in two different variants. For the storage, 8GB-128GB model will be available in the Middle East, Africa, the Asia-Pacific region and some countries in Middle Asia. Whereas the 6GB-128GB model will be available for the rest of the market. Likewise, the fast charging mechanism on the phone also differs market-wise. 40Watt charging is available for Middle East, Africa, Aisa-Pacific regions and some countries in Middle Asia. Whereas 22.5Watt charging is available for the rest of the market. The phone offers three colour options to pick up from Space Silver, Sakura Pink, and Midnight Black.
