HTC U20 5G Launched: Back In The Game Almost After 2 Years
HTC has introduced two new Smartphones in Taiwan. The HTC U20 and the HTC Desire 20 Pro are the new two players. These two can give Chinese tech giants a huge competition after “Boycott Made In China” sentiments. The sentiment is not limited to any specific country its almost worldwide. Furthermore, HTC can leverage this as an opportunity in the Indian market. In the Indian market, people are finding alternatives to any china products. In this meantime, HTC comes up as cherry on top since it is a Taiwanese company. The HTC U20 is 5G compliant whereas HTC Desire 20 Pro is 4G. The U20 falls under the premium midrange since it has Snapdragon 765G SoC.

HTC U20 Features and Specs
It features a 6.8″ inches FullHD+ 20:9 aspect ratio display with a punch hole on the top left corner. Beneath the punch hole, there is a 32MP front-facing camera sensor. While on the backside of the phone there a Quad Camera setup beside the fingerprint scanner. The Quad Camera setup combination of a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide sensor, a 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor.
Under the hood, there is a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G octa-core processor. The processor combines 1×2.4 GHz Kryo 475 Prime & 1×2.2 GHz Kryo 475 Gold & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 475 Silver cores, further fabricated in 7nm architecture. Besides, the processor paired with Adreno 620 GPU and an 8GB of RAM. The phone runs on Android 10 OS while there is a 5000mAh battery that powers the system. The system further supports Quick Charge 4.0 18W fast charging on board.
As far as the connectivity options are concerned, it comes with 5G support of 5 bands (n1, n3, n28, n41, n78) further supports 4G, 3G, and 2G bands. Apart from network connectivity, it has a USB Type-C connector, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, Dual SIM. Sensors are including a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, GPS, and others.
Price, variant, and availability
As of now, there are no words regarding the price of the phone. HTC listing both of the phones with a “coming soon” tag.
In terms of storage variants and color, there is just one variant that comes under the spot lite which is the 8GB+256GB storage variant in green color option.
According to some rumors, the HTC desire should have launched on June 16. But HTC surprises by listing HTC U20 alongside the HTC Desire 20 Pro. However, it is expected to be available by the end of June. It must be noted that HTC comes back after almost 2years since its last flagship comes in the market. Another Taiwan tech giant Asus already in the Indian market but unable to impress Indian Smartphone users. It indeed a golden opportunity for HTC as the “Boycott China” sentiment peaks momentum.
