Through the certification process, Oppo A72 5G spotted on TENAA as well as on the China Telecom Website reveals its key specs. Surprisingly the phone equipped with an unknown processor with the model number of ARM MT6853. Further, the SoC is presumed to be the ARM’s MediaTek Dimensity 720 5G processor by the experts.
The phone also appears on the benchmarking platform Geekbench 5 where it confirms the existence of MT6853 SoC. The processor cores 513 on single-core CPU and 1659 multi-core CPU with the maximum frequency of 2.0GHz. As per the specs and features, the phone looks like a budget with a 5G connectivity. We will learn more about the phone in the specs section, but before that let’s have a brief discussion of the ARM’s MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC.
The Dimensity 720 is might be to counter Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 690 SoC. Both the SoC is boasting the same frequency of 2.0GHz. The Dimencity 720 couples with Mali G75 GPU while the Snapdragon 690 coupled with Adreno 619L GPU. Both of the SoC’s purpose is to make 5G more accessible as well as affordable for all. Since the MediaTek has taken down the Dimensity 700 series listing we unable to collect further information about the processor. Oppo A72 5G Features and Specs
The Oppo A72 is already in the market but the phone we are talking about appears with model number PDYM20 which presumed to be the A72 5G. The leaks also reveal the specification of the phone which far different than the Oppo A72, it looks lower midranger with 5G connectivity. The phone features a 6.5″ inches display with a punch hole on top left corner. Beneath the punch hole, there is an 8MP selfie camera sensor. While on the back, there is a square-shaped triple camera module wich consisting of a 16MP main camera sensor, an 8MP ultrawide camera sensor, and a 2MP depth camera sensor.
As far as the performance is concerned, it is the new ARM’s MediaTek Dimensity 720 octa-core processor. Further, it couples with Mali G57 GPU and 8GB RAM alongside 128GB onboard storage. The system runs on Color OS on the top of Android 10 fueled by a 4000mAh battery. We are unclear about the charging tech but more probably it will have at least 18W charging support.
On the connectivity part, the phone features 5G connectivity alongside all the standard connectivity options including USB Type-C port and 3.5mm audio jack.
Price, Variant, and Availability
The China Telecom listing also revealed the price and variants of the phone. The costs CNY 1,699 (roughly ₹18,200) for the base variant 4GB-128GB model. While the 6GB-128GB model costs CNY 1,799 (roughly ₹19,300) and the top variant 8GB-128GB costs CNY 1,999 (roughly ₹21,500) respectively.
There are no words regarding the launch and availability. Since the phone appears the major certification authorities we could expect the launch of the phone in the coming months.
